Henry Dundas
Henry Dundas (1742-1811)
We think it's important for people to know that Dundas' namesake, Scottish politician Henry Dundas, delayed the abolition of slavery in the British Empire by 15 years, which continued the slavery of 630,000 people. We will work on providing a more complete history here, until then there are some links below that explain further.
As an alternative, we have added an option on our Dundas town maps to use the alternate title of "The Valley Town" for those who would prefer it. Should local residents ever decide to change the name of the town, we would happily provide new versions of our maps to reflect the change.
